Our structure

Updated: 14 December 2011

Our business is structured to ensure we deliver on our responsibility to contribute to an affordable, integrated, safe, responsive and sustainable land transport system. Our structure recognises our key activities and reflects the importance of realising government direction in our activities and the need to work with others to achieve the best solutions for New Zealand’s land transport needs.

Our structure includes six business groups. They are:

  • The Strategy and Performance Group - ensures our strategy and policy are aligned with government direction, monitors and reports on organisational performance, and ensures our Board receives separate advice on NZTA’s investment strategy and programme.
  • The Planning and Investment Group - develops regional and national partnerships that enable us to influence land use planning and optimise our investment in integrated transport solutions for New Zealand.
  • The Highways and Network Operations Group - responsible for building, maintaining and operating the state highway network.
  • The Access and Use Group - provides services such as driver licences and motor vehicle registration and also regulates transport operators.
  • The Organisational Support Group - provides the organisation with information services (IS), finance, legal, assurance and risk, and corporate support services.
  • The People and Capability Group - ensures we can deliver on our goals through our people and people capability.
