The purpose of this proposed amendment Rule was to make changes to Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Lighting 2004.
The Rule sets standards and other safety requirements that must be met by the lighting equipment on vehicles operating on New Zealand roads.
The proposed amendment Rule amends the provisions for safety requirements for vehicle lighting equipment, so as to allow for equipment which can be operated without compromising safety and which is equally or better designed, constructed, positioned or maintained. The Rule also reviews and sets approved standards for vehicle lighting equipment.
