Newmarket Viaduct lanes re-open after crash

The NZ Transport Agency says all four southbound lanes on the Newmarket Viaduct on Auckland's Southern Motorway (State Highway 1) have re-opened after a two vehicle crash at the start of this afternoon's peak.

Congestion is still heavy around the Central Motorway Junction (Spaghetti Junction) in Auckland’s CBD and the Auckland Harbour Bridge and will take some time to clear.

The NZTA’s Regional Traffic Operations Manager, Kathryn Musgrave, says people should consider using alternative routes until the traffic back-log clears.

The crash, involving a truck and a van, had closed three of the southbound lanes on the viaduct.
