Waikato Expressway, Cambridge Section, SH1 Tirau Road
temporary intersection construction

|

Drivers travelling south of Cambridge are advised that some delays may be expected on Tirau Road along State Highway 1 south of the Cambridge Golf course, due to ongoing Waikato Expressway construction activity, says the NZ Transport Agency.

The work has commenced and will be undertaken over the next two weeks during the day from 9am until 4pm. It involves construction of a temporary intersection to allow construction traffic, particularly aggregate trucks, to turn right off the highway in to the southern interchange and Karapiro Viaduct work areas.

North bound motorists (travelling towards Cambridge) are advised that the passing lane along State Highway 1 will also be reduced by 700 metres as part of this work.

This work will only take place during week days, and will also include work over one night in April (date to be confirmed).

One lane will be open in both directions at all times,  and drivers are asked to observe the posted speed limit.

The NZ Transport Agency says further work will be undertaken at this location as part of the construction of the southern interchange, with motorists advised to expect road layout changes in the coming months.

The Transport Agency appreciates these works may cause some inconvenience and thanks motorists for their patience.
