Safer roads for motorcyclists

Updated: 2 November 2011

As the manager of New Zealand's state highway network, we take road users' safety very seriously. We recognise that motorcyclists are particularly vulnerable. As the number of motorcyclists using the highway is increasing, we're committed to undertaking and reviewing research to find the most appropriate ways to ensure their safety.

A need for safe and predictable roads

As well as doing our own research, we keep a constant eye on international research, trends and developments that address safety issues specific to the motorcycling community. This reflects the fact that, while New Zealand has unique challenges, we're committed to providing a safe and predictable road environment for all road users.
