Benefits
Realignment would improve safety and widen the road to current highway standard.
Features
The investigation will consider realigning the road, upgrading and adding a right turn bay at the two intersections, widening the road and constructing a new bridge.
Other facts
SH29 is a major freight and commuter route between the Waikato and the Bay of Plenty. It carries a high number of heavy vehicles going to and from the Port of Tauranga. Following the investigation phase, design and construction could, depending on funding availability, be carried out within the next two years at an estimated cost of $6M.
