Live construction cameras
In an NZTA first, remote cameras installed at the construction site capture images several times an hour. These are then sent back to the project team at NZTA so they can monitor progress.

Traffic management
A detailed traffic management plan is in place to ensure traffic is kept flowing through the gorge while construction continues. A lower speed limit will be in place while the bridge over the gorge is being constructed.
However as this is a realignment project, most of the construction will take place away from the existing road with minimal disturbance to motorists.
