Motorists need to be extra careful when passing a stationary school bus where children are getting on or off. Always reduce your driving speed to 20km/h when passing the bus and keep an eye out for children who are walking to catch the bus, or leaving it.

The whānau and caregivers guide on Feet First Walk to School Every Week is a booklet that encourages students, whānau and caregivers to make the journey to school on foot for at least once a week, every week. The booklet discusses the benefits for parents and children of walking to school and looks at practical ways they can make it happen. Students are encouraged to safely walk with caregivers and friends or join school walking initiatives where possible. A Māori language version of the booklet is also available.
