Requests for the name and address of individuals that are or have been registered in respect of a vehicle are considered against the criteria contained in the Official Information Act. This requires the NZ Transport Agency to weigh up the public interest in releasing the information sought against the privacy rights of the individual concerned. Public interest usually means for the common good or general welfare of all but is not limited in any way. Each case is determined on its own merits. A request for a registered person's name and address is made by submitting an online application. A fee of $15 is payable. This transaction can also be completed online at our Transaction Centre.
