F14.3 Funding assistance for administration

State highway administration funding

Administration activities relating to state highways are funded as an on-cost of the total allocation to state highways.

Administration support for TAs and approved public organisations

The NZTA provides financial support to each territorial authority or approved public organisation for administration activities as an on-cost of 2.25 percent of the total allocation to the territorial authority or approved public organisation.

In return for this financial support, the NZTA expects:

• competent management of consultants or their own professional services business units
• efficient operation of management systems
• timely and accurate provision of the various reports required by the NZTA
• development and management of the territorial authority's component of the RLTP and the National Land Transport Programme (NLTP).

Regional authority administration support

The NZTA provides financial support to each regional authority for administration activities as an on-cost of the total allocation to the regional authority.

Non-administration related operational expenditure for systems databases and marketing initiatives are programmed under work category 514: passenger transport facilities maintenance and operations.
