F7.8 W/Cs 124 and 131: Cycle path maintenance and level crossing warning devices
Definition: work category 124
Cycle path maintenance
This work category provides for the operation, maintenance and renewal of the pavement and facilities associated with cycle paths, including the operation of associated lighting.
Cycle facilities are eligible for funding assistance provided the facilities are consistent with a relevant cycling or walking and cycling strategy or plan.
Exclusions: work category 124
This work category excludes:
- cycle paths and facilities used for purely recreational purposes - these are not eligible for funding assistance
- construction/implementation of new cycle facilities or capital work on existing facilities, such as the provision of new lighting - these are funded under work category 452: cycle facilities.

Level crossing warning devices
This work category provides for the territorial authority to share the costs associated with maintenance, renewal, upgrading and installation of level crossing warning devices carried out by the relevant rail track authority.
The relevant rail track authority will provide a list of priority work to the NZTA. Only work that is on the priority list is eligible for funding assistance. An invoice from the relevant rail track authority must back up claims.
