Getting to Auckland
Air
Auckland Airport (external link) is a major international airport and a hub for domestic connections throughout New Zealand. Airlines with domestic flights to Auckland include Air New Zealand, Jetstar and Salt Air (external links). You can get to the central city by bus, taxi or shuttle. Rental car counters are available in the terminal, and long and short term parking is available.
Sea
With a prime waterfront location on the Waitemata Harbour, Auckland is easily accessed by cruise ship. Cruise ships disembark at the edge of downtown Auckland and terminals provide a range of ferries (external link), taxi and tour services to help you explore the city.
Public transport
All major bus, train and ferry public transport networks (external link) arrive into the Britomart transport precinct in downtown Auckland.
Rail
Britomart is the central rail station for Auckland with services running to various parts of the city. From Britomart you can connect to the Overlander service (external link) a train network which runs the length of the North Island from Auckland down to Wellington.
Road

Northern Gateway Toll Road
If you’re travelling north of Auckland, you need to be aware of the Northern Gateway Toll Road - a 7.5km motorway extension which, when travelling north, begins just before Orewa and ends after the Johnstone Hills near Puhoi.

Getting around Auckland
