The NZ Transport Agency advises of the following closures for motorway improvements. Closures start at 8pm and finish at 5am, unless otherwise stated. Work delayed by bad weather will be completed at the next available date, prior to Friday 3 September.

Southbound Switch: Southern Motorway closure, Sept 4-5

The Southbound lanes of the Southern Motorway (SH1) will be closed for a maximum of 36 hours from 5pm Saturday September 4 between Gillies Ave and Greenlane. The closure is required to enable us to open the new southbound Newmarket Viaduct in time for the Monday morning commute.

Johnstone's Hill Tunnels - Maintenance Closure extended

The NZ Transport Agency wishes to advise motorists the maintenance work currently underway on the twin tunnels at Johnstone's Hill has been extend to take advantage of good working conditions and low traffic volumes.

NZTA warns of high tide flood risk

Road users are reminded by the NZ Transport Agency that there is a risk of flooding on a section of the Northwestern Motorway [State Highway 16] because of unusually high tides in the Waitemata Harbour this week.
