Detours for southbound traffic travelling on SH1 near Tirau:
expect delays

|

A detour will be in place for people travelling south on State Highway 1 near Tirau next week while contractors install new guard rails on the route.

For four days from Monday December 15, all southbound traffic – except HPMV trucks – will be detoured via Okoroire Road-Hetherington Rd-SH5 and back to SH1.

The detour will be in place from 7am until 5pm and will add approximately 15 minutes to travel times.

All north-bound traffic will stay on SH1 and pass through the work site; however a 30km/h speed restriction will be in place and some stop/go traffic management will be in place to allow south bound HPMV vehicles through.

The work is between the township and the new roundabout at the SH1/5 intersection. The job is weather dependent and may be postponed if necessary.

The Transport Agency thanks drivers for their patience and understanding while these works are under way.
