On 1 May 2015 Vehicle Testing New Zealand (VTNZ) took over as the Transport Agency’s provider for all practical driver testing services, including car, motorcycle and heavy vehicle licences.
The Transport Agency will be working closely with VTNZ over the coming months to improve the experience of drivers sitting their practical licence tests.
This change will have minimal impact on drivers sitting a practical test – the skills and competencies required to pass aren’t changing.
It is important to note that on 1 May two testing locations are changing.
|Old testing location||Testing location from 1 May 2015|
|AA Napier||VTNZ Onekawa, 154 Taradale Road, Napier|
|AA Westgate||VTNZ Westgate, 6 Pinot Lane, Westgate, Auckland|
All drivers that have booked a test at one of these sites after 1 May 2015 were provided with the correct address details on their confirmation slip.
It is particularly important that drivers that have already sat a practical test in these areas and have a test booked after 1 May, refer to the details contained in their confirmation slip, as the location has changed since their last test.
A confirmation slip is provided to all drivers when making a practical test booking. It contains all the details including the type of test, applicant name, booking ID number, test date and time, location, recommended reporting time and test duration.
You can change a test on our website, by visiting a driver licensing agent (see the list below), or by calling us on 0800 822 422.
