If you miss your test time or your test is failed or terminated, you must pay another test fee when you rebook. You will not have to pay another application fee.
If you are presenting a CBTA certificate for your restricted or full class 6 you will not need to pay a test fee.

If you're presenting an approved course certificate for class 2–5 you will not need to pay a test fee.

If you're applying for more than one endorsement at the same time, you'll pay only one application fee, one ID card fee and one test fee.

You only have to pay the test fee if you haven't sat a class 1 full licence test in the last five years.

The vetting fee is $9.70 per year, unless you are applying for a large P endorsement to only drive large passenger service vehicles. Then you only pay the vetting fee every fifth year.

Changing or cancelling your test

If you want to change or cancel your driver licence test, you may have to pay a fee. However, if you make the change or cancellation with enough notice, we can hold the test fee amount in ‘credit’ for you on the driver licensing system for when you re-book your test. If you do the cancel, change and/or re-booking online, you’ll pay nothing when you re-book your test.

If you cancel more than two complete working days* before the test, and don’t think you’ll be rebooking a driver licence test for a long time, you should be eligible for a refund of the fees you originally paid. The application form [PDF, 112 KB] will tell you what information you need to provide. Please note that refunds are assessed on a case by case basis and may be subject to an additional processing fee of $16.40.

* Two or more complete working days (excluding weekends and public holidays) between the day you change or cancel your test and the date of your test.

** This is a regulated fee to cover the time taken and costs incurred when a test is cancelled or rescheduled.

How do I apply for a refund of driver licensing fees?

If you decide to cancel an application or a driving test you may be eligible for a refund of some or all of the fees you've paid.

We assess each refund application on its own merits. The application form will guide you through the information you need to provide.
