Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency urges drivers to be aware of potentially hazardous ‘summer ice’ on South Island roads currently. Like the better-known black ice of freezing winter days, summer ice is often invisible to drivers but is just as slippery and hazardous.
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is urging motorists to take extra care when using the northbound lane on State Highway 1 (SH1) south of Rangiriri interchange to south of the Ōhinewai interchange (including off and on-ramps), as the lane will be without expressway lighting from tonight (Wednesday 19 January 2022) through to March while work continues on upgrading the state highway.
The Tauranga Eastern Link Toll Road eastbound lanes between Pāpāmoa and Paengaroa (towards Whakatāne / Rotorua) will be closed between 6am and 1pm on Saturday 22 January 2022 for the cycle-leg of the Mount Festival of Multisport.
Waka Kotahi is advising that SH1 Carmen Road will be CLOSED to southbound traffic from Halwyn Dr, from 1am until 5:30am Tuesday 18 January 2022 due to urgent wastewater repairs on Carmen Rd at the intersection with Buchanans Rd.
