Albert Town Bridge - closed 10pm, Wednesday 6 November to 3am Thursday, 7 November

|

People who use the Albert Town Bridge on State Highway 6 near Wanaka will have a detour late this Wednesday night into early Thursday morning, 6 and 7 November.

The bridge will be closed to traffic from 10pm Wednesday, 6 November, so that Aspiring Highways, on behalf of Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency, can repair the surface.

The detour will be via Camphill Road, Kane Road and SH8A. (See map below.)

“The night work will help minimise disruptions for people, with the full closure in place between 10pm and 3am,” says Mark Stewart, Transport Agency Maintenance Contract Manager. “During this period there may be intermittent openings, however it is recommended that road users under time pressure take the detour available.”

Bridge users can find up-to-date information on these works on www.journeys.nzta.govt.nz/traffic(external link)

“People who normally use the Albert Town Bridge at night or in the early hours need to plan ahead for the closure and allow extra time for their journey,” says Mr Stewart.

“Some people living nearby may hear machinery noise. However, by doing the work at night it can be completed more efficiently and with significantly less disruption overall.”

The Transport Agency and Aspiring Highways thank everyone for their patience and for taking care on the detour route while this important maintenance work is completed.
