Care needed at Northland state highway upgrade sites

Work to help maintain safe driving conditions on Northland’s state highway network is underway at several locations in the region, and the NZ Transport Agency says all road users should be aware of speed restrictions and changes to highway and road layouts.

State Highway 1 north 

Whangarei:  highway upgrade from SH1/SH14 to SH1/Selwyn Avenue

Kauri rail overbridge: repairs

Towai:  planting

Hukerenui, Moerewa: repairs to highway surface 

Oakleigh: Katetoke bridge repairs

Te Ahu Ahu Road:  right turn bay safety work

McLeods Flat:  guardrail improvements

SH1/SH10 intersection upgrade

State Highway 10

Puketotara Road: repairs to highway surface

Kaeo, Cable Bay: repairs to highway shoulder

Kaeo: highway maintenance and 50kph speed restriction

SH10/SH1: intersection upgrade

SH10/SH11 intersection upgrade

State Highway 11

Whirinaki River bridge: repairs

Lemons Hill: 50/70kph speed restriction

Opua: 50 speed restriction 

Te Haumi: 50kph speed restriction

Whangae: 50kph speed restriction

Waitangi: 70kph speed restriction  

SH11/SH10: intersection upgrade

Katui, Maitahi, Wharekawa: repairs to highway surface

Matakohe and Ruawai: slip repairs

Vegetation spraying at various locations
