10am:

People heading to the airport and Wellington Hospital are warned delays are likely on State Highway 1 through the city as emergency services continue to respond to the Loafers Lodge fire.

With Adelaide Road currently closed, traffic flows in Wellington’s CBD have been affected during morning rush hour and will likely be affected again later this afternoon.

It means people heading to Wellington Hospital and Wellington Airport may face delays. Drivers should factor extra time into their traffic plans.

Because of the closure of Adelaide Rd, the Mount Victoria tunnel is serving as a detour route for people travelling to the south coast. Because of this, a maintenance closure planned for the tunnel tonight has been deferred.

Drivers and commuters are encouraged to stay up-to-date and check road conditions before they travel.
