Delays getting onto Auckland’s Northwestern Motorway

|

The NZ Transport Agency apologises for the delay that drivers would have experienced this morning when using the Lincoln Road interchange to get onto Auckland’s Northwestern Motorway (State Highway 16).

During the morning peak the connection between the signals at the interchange developed a fault in the link to the Joint Transport Operations Centre (JTOC) which monitors and operates the traffic signals across Auckland.

“Unfortunately when the signals lost their link with JTOC it affected the timing of the light changes. The signals ran on a default setting until the system could be rebooted and we were able to make changes” says Mr Thackwray.

“We appreciate the patience and care all drivers have shown this morning and we are doing everything possible to keep people moving.”

“Once the signals were back under JTOC control the traffic cleared up relatively quickly, however we have made it a priority to keep a close eye on the interchange to try and avoid a repeat of this morning”. Mr Thackwray says.

The Transport Agency is investigating the cause of the fault and will be closely monitoring the interchange over the next few days.
