Higgins to construct SH50 roundabout

|

The NZ Transport Agency has awarded the contract for the construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of SH50 Hawke’s Bay Expressway, Pakowhai Road and Links Road to Higgins Contractors Hawke’s Bay.

The contract involves realigning the Links road and Pakowhai road approaches to a new roundabout on SH50 as well as upgrading 1.38 kilometres of State highway.

Construction will also involve the removal of the existing Hawke’s Bay Expressway Traffic lights, undergrounding of services such as overhead power lines and the construction of a number of culverts.

NZ Transport Agency System Manager Wayne Oldfield says the project aims to improve safety at what is a very busy Hawke’s Bay intersection.

“We thank the public in advance for their cooperation and patience while we work to improve safety on this key route for Hawke’s Bay.”

Motorists will see Higgins Contractors starting to set up their worksite from 8 January 2018. The project is due for completion by August 2018.
