The details below outline the main planned state highway roadworks occurring in the greater Wellington region and the top of the South Island over the coming week (2 April 2023).

Drivers in the Marlborough region need to be aware of the following:

The Metservice has a heavy rain watch for Nelson and Golden Bay between 2 am and 4 pm on Saturday, 1 April. Road users should take care on the roads and drive to the conditions.

In Wellington, drivers should be thinking about planning ahead for a weekend closure of State Highway 58 at the end of April.

  • Outside work hours the road is open to two lanes with no speed restrictions.  Traffic management: shoulder closure only.
