Maintenance work, Coronation Avenue, State Highway 3, New Plymouth

The NZ Transport Agency and the New Plymouth District Council are co-ordinating the replacement of a water main with road maintenance on Coronation Avenue State Highway 3, New Plymouth, to minimise overall disruption to road users, residents and businesses.

The infrastructure and maintenance work, which started last week, is taking place between Tokomaru and Cumberland Streets, and includes the area directly outside the Coronation Avenue shops. The shops are remaining open throughout the work.

Crews will be on site from 7am to 4pm, Monday to Friday. The road maintenance work is expected to be complete by the end of January, with the water main replacement project expected to be finished in mid-March. Both projects are dependent on fine weather.

“Coronation Avenue is a busy route into and out of New Plymouth, and work in this area may cause minor disruptions. We appreciate the patience of the people who live, work and travel through the area while we work with the New Plymouth District Council on these two important infrastructure and maintenance projects,” Ross I’Anson,  Highway Manager, NZ Transport Agency says.

“Safety and minimising the impact on the public is our top priority. We have traffic management in place to ensure that everyone, including pedestrians, can travel through the work site safely. Please follow the traffic management instructions and stick to the lower temporary speed limit – it’s in place to keep everyone safe,” Mr I’Anson says.

A team is on onsite during work hours to liaise with residents and business and to answer any questions.
