Motorists warned of night-time delays on State Highway 8

|

Work begins next week on repairs to the timber deck of the Beaumont Bridge which the NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) warns could result in some delays for motorists on State Highway 8 (SH8)

Temporary closures are possible as the work on the Beaumont Bridge on SH8, between Roxburgh and Lawrence, is carried out from 8pm to 4am from next Monday, 29 April through to Friday 3 May. Forecast wet weather could delay the work as completion is dependent on fine conditions.

The NZTA’s Principal Asset Manager for Otago/Southland Roger Bailey says the work is being carried out at night to minimise disruption to motorists, however, there were still likely to be delays of up to 15 minutes at times throughout the night.

“This work is planned maintenance to replace the cracked and split boards on the timber deck of the 130-year-old bridge.”

He says the NZTA apologises in advance for any inconvenience to motorists.
