The webcams have been commissioned by the NZ Transport Agency as it expands its traffic information services to give people more detailed information about highway conditions before they travel.

The cameras are located at key State Highway intersections including:

The NZTA's Acting State Highways Manager for Hamilton, Michelle Te Wharau, says the cameras deliver an important service to people by giving them the opportunity to avoid congestion and to have smoother and safer trips.

The NZTA now operates webcams across Auckland, Tauranga, Waiouru, Wellington, Dunedin and Christchurch.
