Plan ahead: SH30A Amohau Street Sealing Commences Mid-March

|

People travelling on State Highway 30A Amohau Street in Rotorua are advised to plan ahead, with night-time road closures planned from mid-March to allow resealing to take place.

Commencing Sunday 13 March, the northbound lanes (i.e towards Rotorua CBD) between SH30 Sala Street and Fenton Street will be closed to traffic for three consecutive nights, between 7pm and 6am each night, to allow sealing to take place under a safe working environment.

While the road is closed road users can detour via SH30 Sala Street and Fenton Street, with heavy vehicles required to use SH30 Sala Street and then SH5 to head either north or south. There will be no access onto SH30A Amohau Street from either Marguerita Street or Te Ngae Road during the road closure.

During the day road users can expect a temporary speed limit of 30km/h and loose chip, as the new seal beds in. Waka Kotahi reminds all road users to adhere to all temporary signage and to take care when driving on a new road surface. Sweeping and line marking will take place at night following all sealing, and the road will close again for a short period while these activities are completed.

The following week, from Sunday 20 March, the southbound lanes will be closed for three consecutive nights, between 7pm and 6am each night, to allow for sealing on this side of the road. Detour routes will be as per the northbound closure, in reverse. Sweeping and line marking activities will take place at night following all sealing.

During the southbound closures access to Whakarewarewa Rugby Club, MIGS and the Wastewater Treatment Plant will remain open throughout.

In the event of bad weather or other unforeseen circumstances, work may take longer than expected or be postponed.
