The NZ Transport Agency advises that SH2 through the Waimana Gorge is currently closed, and is likely to remain closed over the weekend as severe rain is predicted for the Bay of Plenty region.

This may change depending on how the weather unfolds over the weekend. The NZ Transport Agency asks motorists to plan ahead and check for any changes before travelling by keeping up to date via our social media pages or journey planner online.

The detour will be via Whakatane, Ōhope and Wainui and will be clearly sign posted.
