Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency’s Rail Safety Regulator is investigating a collision between a vehicle and a train at the Western Lake Road Level Crossing near Featherston on Thursday afternoon, 28 January.
A Rail Safety Regulator member and a Waka Kotahi Safer Commercial Transport vehicle specialist are attending the collision to investigate the crash from the perspective of the land transport regulator, alongside the NZ Police investigation.
Waka Kotahi is unable to provide further comment while investigations are underway.
