Section of SH2 south of Katikati closed after fatal crash

|

A section of State Highway 2 (SH2) between Tauranga and Katikati is currently closed after a fatal crash near Whakamarama.

The NZ Transport Agency advises motorists to avoid the area if possible.

Northbound traffic is being detoured via Apata Station Road and southbound traffic is being detoured via Wainui South Road onto Esdaile Rd.

Heavy vehicles are unable to use the detours and will remain parked at the road closure until the highway is reopened.
