Waka Kotahi is advising that State Highway 2 is currently closed between Putorino and Raupunga due to a large slip near Waikare Gorge.

Crews began work at first light and the slip was cleared within hours. The road has now re-opened to traffic.
The situation will be re-assessed at 12pm today (5 December). Until then, the highway will remain closed.
As there is no short detour available, Waka Kotahi advises road user to avoid the area and delay their journeys.
