SH2 Bayview resurfacing works underway from next week - Wed 26 May 2021 update

|

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is advising motorists to plan ahead for stop/go traffic management on State Highway 2 (SH2) between Franklin Road and the State Highway 5 turnoff, starting from Tuesday 27 April.

Update: Wed 26 May 2021, 3.57pm

Please note, the SH2 Bayview resurfacing works were not able to be completed in the scheduled time and crews will return to the site in the week beginning Monday 31 May to complete water blasting of the road surface.

This work will be underway each day from 7.30am to 5pm, on SH2 between Kaimata Road and just north of Franklin Road. During this time, crews will keep traffic flowing in both directions as much as possible, but short periods of stop/go traffic management may be required.

The work is expected to be completed by the end of the week.

Crews will be laying a final coat of seal to the road, sweeping and completing line markings on recently widened areas. The work is part of safety improvements that have been underway on SH2 at Bayview.

Depending on weather, the work is expected to be completed by Friday 14 May, with stop/go traffic management in place between 8am and 4pm each day. There will also be a temporary speed restriction through the site.

Waka Kotahi acknowledges that the ongoing work on SH2 at Bayview has caused disruption, and thanks motorists for their patience and understanding while these important improvements have been underway.

Plan ahead for a safe, enjoyable journey this summer. Keep up to date with:
