SH29 Kaimai Range: Delay your travel or consider alternate routes

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises State Highway 29 is closed between McLaren Falls Road (Waikato side) and the intersection with State Highway 28/Rapurapu Road (Tauranga side) due to a logging truck rollover.

The road is expected to be closed for some time while clean-up takes place.

Motorists are asked to delay their travel or consider alternate routes.

Traffic heading westbound to Matamata, Hamilton or Waikato should follow State Highway 36 south (towards Rotorua) from Tauranga to State Highway 5. Turn right and follow signs to Matamata or Hamilton.

Those heading to Tauranga should use SH28/Rapurapu Rd, turn left onto SH5, then follow signs to Tauranga via SH36.

Auckland traffic use State Highway 2 via Katikati, Waihi and Paeroa.

Visit the interactive Waka Kotahi Journey Planner website ( link)) for the latest information on the road closure and detours, as well as roadworks and traffic.

Waka Kotahi thanks motorists for their patience.

Plan ahead for a safe, enjoyable journey this summer. Keep up to date with:
