SH3 between Awakino and Mokau closed after serious crash

The NZ Transport Agency advises motorists that SH3 between Awakino and Mokau will be closed for three to four hours following a serious crash.

Emergency services are currently on site and motorists are advised to delay their journey.

An alternative route on SH4 via Taumarunui is availablebutwill add approximately four hours to travel time.

UPDATE - 3.10pm:
The vehicles involved in the crash will be removed from the scene earlier than expected, and the Transport Agency expects the road to be open late this afternoon.
