State Highway 1 – Putaruru Hill roadworks January to March

|

Major road works start next week on State Highway 1 (SH1) at the northern end of Putaruru.

The NZ Transport Agency says its contractor Downer Ltd will be rebuilding a stretch of SH1 from Central Street to the bridge, 1km north of town.

The work will give motorists a smoother ride and will reduce the need for future maintenance. It will involve digging out the existing uneven surface and replacing it.

The Transport Agency says crews will be on-site, Monday to Friday during daylight hours, from January 19 until the end of March.

Two-way traffic flows will be maintained at all times, with work staged to complete the south-bound lane, then central, then north-bound section.

A speed restriction of 30km/h will be in place during the works.

Access to properties along SH1 will be maintained at all times and footpaths will not be blocked. Manual traffic controllers will be stationed at intersections to ensure traffic flows.

The Transport Agency thanks motorists for their patience and understanding.
