The CoF system is changing

|

Changes to the Certificate of Fitness (CoF) inspection system will take effect next month.

The CoF system is changing

On 1 November applications open for parties interested in becoming a CoF inspecting organisation or CoF vehicle inspector under the new service delivery model that is being implemented by the NZ Transport Agency.

For freight operators the changes present an opportunity to talk to your current CoF provider and consider whether there are different arrangements available for delivery of CoF inspections.

While you can’t inspect your own vehicles, you could enter into a partnership with an inspecting organisation and have them conduct CoF inspection at your site (assuming it meets our site requirements).

More information about the changes are available from www.nzta.govt.nz/cof(external link), by emailing info@nzta.govt.nz, or by calling our contact centre on 0800 699 000. Application forms will be available from 1 November.

Changes to administration fees relating to vehicle certification services also come into effect on 1 November.

The changes, which are the first in 12 years, include a range of increases and decreases to vehicle certification fees. For more information click here(external link).
