The NZ Transport Agency is advising that there will be significant delays on state highway 2 in the area of Fergusson Drive after a digger rolled off a truck and on to the road.

Access to Fergusson Drive from state highway 2 is closed and the left southbound lane will be closed while a crane works to remove the digger.

Traffic management is in place and southbound vehicles on the highway will be stopped for five minute intervals, while the vehicle removal takes place.

Road repairs will also need to be done to fix damaged pavement.

It’s expected to be several hours before all lanes are fully reopen.

Silverstream traffic is being diverted via Whakatiki Street and Gibbons street.

Traffic is heavy northbound near the site
