Wellington drivers, get ready for a five-night maintenance closure of State Highway 2, Remutaka Hill

|

Regular users of State Highway 2 need to be ready for the next series of planned night closures of the Remutaka Hill starting this Sunday night.

A full week of night closures will be happening each night from 9pm – 4am Sunday, 26 February through to Friday, 3 March. The road will be fully closed to traffic during this time.

This is to allow contractors to carry out essential maintenance and road resurfacing work. Seven sections of the road will be resurfaced and made safer for road users.

Escorted crossing are limited and bookings are essential. If travellers do not book ahead, they are likely to be turned away.

These regular night closures significantly reduce the number of daytime disruptions for road users. Road crews can also complete a large amount of work safely during these closures because multiple crews can work across the hill simultaneously without disrupting traffic.
