Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency will close on-and-off-ramps overnight while critical work is done on State Highway 1 (SH1) to avoid a repeat of incidents where drivers have attempted to drive the wrong way up a motorway off-ramp.
Waka Kotahi is advising motorists that lower speeds and traffic management will be in place overnight at the SH1/Loop Road intersection on several nights over the next month in order to apply the last layer of asphalt.
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is advising drivers to be prepared for daytime delays southbound on the Northern Motorway on Sunday 28 November while the Northern Corridor Improvements (NCI) project team complete necessary work on the underpass connection for SH1 to SH18.
Construction on Transmission Gully is inching closer to the finish line, but the contractor, Wellington Gateway Partnership (WGP), and their sub-contractor, CPB HEB Joint Venture, still have more work to do before the road can open.
