Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is inviting people to be part of the solution to deaths and serious injuries on State Highway 1 between Ōtaki and Levin by sharing their feedback on proposed new speed limits.
People travelling southbound on State Highway 1 and State Highway 59 between Linden and Tawa from 10.00pm to 11.00pm on Monday night (2 May) should consider an alternate route, to avoid being delayed due to gantry installation.
Waka Kotahi is reporting a noticeable reduction in congestion and improved journeys across the wider Wellington transport network after the first full day of operation for Transmission Gully, Te Ara Nui o Te Rangihaeata.
Drivers in the Wellington region can expect a new southbound variable speed limit (VSL) on the main highway into Wellington, which will help improve safety for motorists in the event of a crash, congestion or challenging weather conditions.
The long wait is nearly over for Wellingtonians, with Transmission Gully set to open to traffic within 24 hours following this morning’s ribbon cutting ceremony at the northern end of the newest portion of SH1.
