In a joint effort to increase road safety in the Tasman District, the NZ Transport Agency is lowering speed limits on a busy stretch of State Highway 60 between Richmond and Motueka, in time for Christmas. The Tasman District Council is also lowering speeds on a number of adjoining roads at the same time.
People who use the road between Cromwell and Queenstown, State Highway 6, will notice roadworks near the Crown Range turnoff starting early January and running through to March. The road is commonly called the Gibbston highway.
A high-risk stretch of highway in Christchurch is set to get a $2.5 million upgrade that will help stop people dying or being seriously injured in crashes and make it safer for students to walk and bike to school.
