The NZ Transport Agency and its highway maintenance contract team for Coastal Otago, the Highway Highlanders, advise drivers that the summer highway maintenance period gets underway this month on the coastal Otago network. The majority of work is concentrated on State Highway 1 between Palmerston and Milton.
The NZ Transport Agency is encouraging all South Canterbury drivers to build in a little extra time as work continues resurfacing the Timaru-Temuka Highway SH1 between Washdyke and Pleasant Point Highway (SH8). The road will remain open, but drivers can also take alternate routes to ease congestion, unless they are driving heavy vehicles.
The NZ Transport Agency is advising people to expect delays of an hour on two separate days next week due to scheduled rock blasting work at the Nevis Bluff on State Highway 6. The bluff is midway between Cromwell and Queenstown.
The NZ Transport Agency advises of the following closures for motorway improvements. Closures start at 9pm and finish at 5am, unless otherwise stated.
