Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency warns all drivers on alpine and semi-alpine passes in the South Island to beware of ice overnight, tomorrow morning and this week after a particularly icy weekend.
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is advising that work will begin next week to reinstate the road shoulder on State Highway 35 at Turihaua which was eroded by high tides and heavy swells in September 2019.
UPDATE (7 June 2020): Takaka Hill road, SH60, the road link between Tasman Bay and Golden Bay, will be closed to traffic between 9pm and 5am Monday and Tuesday next week, 8 and 9 June, says Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency.

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency last week advised it had updated its winter highway management around the South Island. This included a change to the management of SH73 Porter’s and Arthur’s Passes for this winter. The two passes form a key route linking Canterbury and the West Coast and the communities along the way.
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises that State Highway 2 will be closed at Ngatea with a detour in place from 9am to 3pm on Friday 5 June to allow the bridge over the Piako River to be resurfaced with asphalt.
Permanent new speed limits on State Highway 22 between Drury interchange and Paerata and on 200 local roads in the Franklin area will take effect on Tuesday 30 June.
