State Highway 1 to the top of the North Island will reopen today, just five days after heavy rain and a washout tore a 20 metre hole in the road north of Kaitaia.
From the end of April, State Highway 1 (SH1) between Picton and Christchurch will re-open for night-time travel for the first time since the Kaikōura earthquake in November 2016.
