The NZ Transport Agency and Western Bay of Plenty District Council have awarded a $154 million road maintenance contract that is set to save ratepayers and road users an estimated $50 million over seven years.
The NZ Transport Agency advises of the following closures for motorway improvements. Closures start at 9pm and finish at 5am, unless otherwise stated. Work delayed by bad weather will be completed at the next available date, prior to Friday, 26 September. Please note this Traffic Bulletin is updated every Friday.
The NZ Transport Agency says significant closures will have a big impact on drivers using a section of Auckland’s Northwestern motorway citybound (State Highway 16) and the Great North Road interchange during the weekend of 27/28 September.
Work to repair a retaining wall and replace guardrail at Maia on State highway 88 between Dunedin and Port Chalmers, will see the highway in this area reduced to one lane for up to a week from Monday, 22 September.
The local community turned out in force recently for the opening of the second and last of the two new dual lane bridges that the NZ Transport Agency has built over the Waitaki River on State Highway 82 at Kurow.
