Fridays are the quietest weekday morning on Wellington’s transport network, the busiest time to drive into the city is just after 7am on a Tuesday, and traffic volumes are back to pre-Covid levels despite more people working from home, according to a Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency analysis.
Work will begin this Friday, 12 February, on a major upgrade of the State Highway 58 (SH58) interchange at Pāuatahanui to allow for more traffic and better flow between SH58 and the new Transmission Gully motorway, scheduled to open in September this year.
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is reminding motorists about upcoming overnight closures on State Highway 2 over the Remutaka Hill for essential maintenance work.
