The Bay of Plenty's largest ever roading project has moved a step closer to reality with the official start of construction on the Tauranga Eastern Link.
The NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) has appointed the contracting team to design and build the Tauranga Eastern Link and announced that construction of the road of national significance is to begin later this month - more than six months earlier than anticipated.
A unique campaign to involve the community's stories and local history into the Tauranga Eastern Link has been launched by the NZ Transport Agency (NZTA).
Construction of the Tauranga Eastern Link road of national significance will start up to 10 years earlier than previously possible following the Government's approval for the route to be tolled, the NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) confirmed today.
Consultation is underway on a proposal to help bring forward the start of construction on the $455 million Tauranga Eastern Link by tolling one section of the road.
