Major road works will be carried out on the Russley Road/ Memorial Ave temporary roundabout this month, as work on the $112 million Russley Road Upgrade continues.
The NZ Transport Agency is advising that State Highway 73 from Springfield to Arthurs Pass is now open to one lane under stop/go control, between Bealey & Cass, due to a fire in the area
State Highway 69 north of Inangahua Junction is down to one lane tonight with Stop/Go traffic control due to a serious two vehicle crash about 6 km north of the Junction, in the Upper Buller Gorge, after 6.30 pm.
The NZ Transport Agency will close the inland route into Kaikoura overnight tonight from 8 pm after heavy rain today. Geotechnical advisors will check the route before a planned reopening at 7 am tomorrow, Thursday, 5 January.
The NZ Transport Agency has reopened State Highway 1 south of Kaikoura this morning, just before 9 am. The highway south of the town is currently normally open daylight hours, 6am to 8 pm, so long as weather conditions, rockfalls or earthquakes do not create temporary closures.
The NZ Transport Agency closed State Highway 1 south of Kaikoura earlier than was planned this evening Sunday, 1 January, after rocks fell north of Rosy Morn, between Peketa and Goose Bay. The highway closed around 5 pm instead of 8 pm.
