Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises the Te Puke Highway, near Pah Road, will be reduced to one lane on Tuesday 9 August, and on Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 August the road shoulder will be closed.
Significant repair work continues on a number of roads across the Waikato & Bay of Plenty region, as well as further afield, following recent extreme weather.
Wednesday’s closure of State Highway 2 between Waioeka Pa Road, south of Ōpōtiki, and the town of Matawai, has seen key activities completed as the area continues to recover from the effects of recent weather events.
Safety barriers will be installed at three locations along State Highway 43 over the next two months. These sites will be the first of a larger safety barrier package for the highway.
Urgent works to repair potholes on State Highway 3 near the Rugby Road underpass at Tariki, between Inglewood and Stratford, will be carried out on Tuesday 2 August.
Twenty-four-hour, seven day a week access will be restored to all traffic at the site of a significant collapse on State Highway 35 near Motu River bridge this afternoon.
The tireless efforts of contractors on the ground at the site of a major collapse on State Highway 35 near Motu River Bridge (between Ōpōtiki and Te Kaha), will see a temporary single lane track opened to traffic this evening.
Heavy vehicles with trailers will not be able to access State Highway 35 at Kopuaroa from 11.59pm tonight (Friday 22 July 2022). The road will remain open to all other traffic, including heavy vehicles without trailers.
UPDATE 9PM: State Highway 35 between Ōpōtiki and Gisborne is now closed. SH35 at Motu River has collapsed along the centre line this evening with the eastbound lane falling into the river.
