South Island drivers, in the alpine areas and the lower half of the island should be on the lookout for black ice and slippery conditions as a cold front sweeps up the country today, says the NZ Transport Agency’s Network Operations Manager Tresca Forrester.
Southland, Otago and the alpine passes of the South Island have had snowfalls and freezing temperatures in the past 24 hours with potentially more overnight. Wet and icy road conditions are likely in many areas of the southern South Island Thursday morning.
